Save the White Elephant Car Wash

Posted by PartyWeDo on Saturday, October 31, 2009

In our ongoing effort to Save the Elephant Joke, we are hosting a car wash here on the AlbinoPhant white elephant gift exchange website…  Not just any car wash, but a real honest to goodness white elephant car washing…
We have some video of the efficient washing crew… Notice how clean the driver’s side window is getting.
All proceeds from the car wash will be used to Save Elephant Jokes for children this holiday season…
Roll-up your windows and lower your antennas….

Pulling up a stool in the Facebook kitchen

Posted by PartyWeDo on Tuesday, October 27, 2009

The kitchen has always been the gathering spot for friendly and relaxed conversations. You would think that the living room would be the spot for the gathering, but friends generally end up in the kitchen to be closer to the host.
Kaila Colbin wrote an insightful piece for media post this week where she allegorizes that the social web is like these two rooms of a home.
She suggests that a party setting finds friends gravitating to the kitchen rather than the living room.
She also suggests, and we agree, that web interactions are more efficient and effective when we… Read the rest »

Posted by PartyWeDo on Tuesday, October 27, 2009

With almost 20% of Americans choosing to travel less this year; will personal and family connections suffer from the reduced involvement? The answer is probably yes. But there are some solutions that can help fill part of the gaps.
In a survey conducted by American Express and reported by Media Post’s Jack Loechner, we learn that; “19% of the general population who traveled last year will be staying home in 2009”.
The survey also suggested that more people are going to drive this year instead of flying, which will further cut into the quality family time this holiday season. When… Read the rest »

Holiday Excitement and Elephant Toothpaste

Posted by PartyWeDo on Monday, October 26, 2009

This stuff is called elephant toothpaste…
We are not sharing the ingredients here; you can find them online.
This science sideshow would be an interesting entertainment experiment at your next white elephant gift exchange.???
Be brave… It will only remove the wax from your linoleum and leave spots on your carpet!
Elephant toothpaste would certainly make the party more memorable. (Warning: this stuff is nasty)

Shocking Gifts – Spark a conversation at your Yankee Swap

Posted by King Thibaw on Sunday, October 25, 2009

If it has a cord, a battery or solar cells it can be a real shocker of a gift.  Adding these electrical items into the gift exchange party can really turn-on the conversation.
Try a “Shocking theme” for your next Yankee Swap or white elephant gift exchange. Invite your friends to the party, but tell them that all the gifts must have something to do with electricity or power.
You will be shocked and amazed how creative your friends will be in stretching the meaning of power, as they open gifts and banter about what is revealed in the swap.… Read the rest »
