I wrote a post concerning the kindness of strangers and promised to share with you some of the people who have been kind to us during our development process.
I want to mention Chris Brogan… He has been kind and generous with his time. He is very busy with his many ventures, and yet he has taken time to respond to my emails, review a post on this blog and give supportive encouragement on doing a launch demonstration. That is KINDNESS to strangers.
I have read his book Trust Agents, (written with Julien Smith) and discovered his conviction to being kind, even to strangers. He preaches and practices that kindness can lead to some level of friendship, and that friendship may lead to something mutually beneficial to both, in the long run.
At BlogWorld last night I approached Chris prior to his keynote address. He had a 45 minute presentation staring him in the face, yet he saw my tentative approach and welcomed me over into his conversation. (He couldn’t help but notice my white AlbinoPhant T-shirt) He signed my copy of Trust Agents, allowed me to connect with some of his friends and we shared a couple of words.
Chris was kind to a middle aged non-techie, somewhat “that-guy” style of person and I appreciate it.
He gave a nice presentation, I took some notes, but my thoughts remain on the fact that his kindness to strangers is how we build trust in today’s business environment.
I hope that I can pass it on to the strangers that I meet.———————————————————-
